My friends and I had our first Book Club meeting yesterday. It's about time that I'm in a book club. I've been dying to be in a book club since I was probably seven years old!

We met yesterday to discuss the structure & how it was going to work. We're going to meet once a month and take turns picking books. First up: Sarah's Key!

  3. I have always always wanted to be in a book club. I tried to get it going in my small town but no one wanted to commit. Maybe I'll have better luck in my new town

  7. I love your blog and your pictures - and I don't know if I've commented before, but you are darling and classy and ps. I really enjoyed Sarah's Key. You should watch the movie at some point after, too. Really well done!

  10. yahoo!! love that these photos are from the meeting for the book club! can't wait to see what it looks like once it gets going! i am part of a blogger/book club and it's so much fun. most of my friends & fam don't read the books i like- so it's great to have a meeting of the minds with fellow feminist/book lovers!

  15. I too have always wanted to be in a book club. It's such a cheap and easy way to have an excuse to get together. And if everyone brings homemade cupcakes too then that's my heaven!

  29. Ah, gosh, it's such a sweet inspiration to see a group of (I may be jumping to this conclusion) powerful, delightful women come together to chat literature. I mean, hells yeah. I very sincerely can't really imagine finding the time to commit to reading on someone else's schedule, but gosh I'd like to be a part of a book club.

  31. Hello !

I've been lurking around your blog for ages, and just wanted to say thank you for sharing all of this with us - your photographs and the stories behind them always make me feel so happy. Hopefully you'll see me commenting here a bit more often !
Also those nibbles look delicious... friends, foods, and books, what more does one need ?

(on a completely unrelated note... you used to have a food blog on your "favorites" collection but it is no longer there. I bloody loved it but can't remember its name ! Can you help me ?)

  32. @amani: ah yes! it was "smitten kitchen" - the best food blog out there, in my humble opinion :)
