Mike and I have a silly little competition when it comes to Scrabble. I had always thought of myself as rather good at Scrabble, but then Mike came along and beat me every time (except for that time that I was creaming him at Neighbourhood Café. But then it turned out he was going to propose, so I guess he had good reason to be playing so poorly...)
However, I'm happy to report that I beat Mike for the first time this weekend. He was quite surprised, I was elated. It was the highlight of my weekend.
We also did some planning for our New Years Eve party. I've been pinning some photos on my New Years Eve pinboard, but I'm having a bit of a hard time finding snazzy/crafty/cool New Years Eve ideas (finding a lot of tacky/cheesy ideas). If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
But look at this fancy little design Mike whipped up for the soirée:
And lastly, here is the Shabby Apple giveaway winner:
Wishful Nals, please email me your shipping information :)
my parents and i were just talking about scrabble. i told them i want to hold small gatherings at my house and after we'd eat we'd play games we loved as kids. scrabble just never gets old. this was a beautiful post. congrats on winning for the first time! also, how did mike do that awesome design? :))

this is so sweet. my grandmother and I always have scrabble competitions each time we get together, and it's one of my favorite traditions.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning! And I can easily understand your elation. My husband beats me in Scrabble ALMOST every time. :)
ReplyDeletei like 'glinted'
ReplyDelete(major congratulations)
it's official. i'm coming over to play scrabble with you guys. if i start driving now, i can probably make it before ten. ;)
ReplyDeletein all seriousness, though, this just makes me happy. congratulations on defeating mike!

Ha, go you! My husband are always arguing over who's better at scrabble :)
ReplyDeleteHA! So funny you finally beat Mike at scrabble, and I love that New Years Eve design Mike created. You have such a talented hubby. XOX
ReplyDelete@Jocee: Mike made the New Years Eve design in photoshop :)
ReplyDeleteI like all the pins you have for a new years party! I think it's so nice that you are planning a little soirée! I don't usually look forward to new years because all the parties provided out there are usually let downs, but it's so smart that you are taking it in your own hands and just surrounding yourself with people you actually want to see!!
ReplyDeleteJust have sparkles at the party!
Congrats on the Scrabble win! My husband usually beats me too; he's an engineer, and I'm an English major for goodness sake, so it's kind of embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteVICTORY feels great, doesn't it. good work! now you need to try mexican trains! i won 6 of 7 rounds last night so i'm convinced it's my new game of choice ;)

That is so awesome that you won. I can feel your joy all the way over here. I've only beat my husband at scrabble one time and fortunately it was in front of his parents. But the next morning I realized my competition was just drunk - because my father in law thought he had won seeing the initial M.
ReplyDeletecongrats on your history making win!
ReplyDeleteOh Scrabble...such a simple and vicious game. ;) I stumbled upon your blog the other day and I really love it. Your pictures are quite lovely as well!
