It's always a bit of adjustment getting used to the dark after Daylight Savings. I miss those warm, bright summer evenings more than ever.

However, my friend Kari recently made an excellent obersvation about the cooler weather. She said, "In summer, you feel obligated to spend all your time outside. In winter, it's totally okay to just stay inside."

Absolutely true. Bring on the fires, scrabble games, moccasin slippers, and HBC blankets to snuggle in!

*Did anyone notice the "?" tile? ...it's from our engagement! :)

  1. I did notice the ? tile and was like "woah, is that a new addition to scrabble that I didn't know about?" what a perfect keepsake. I love winter nights and scrabble...sometimes my husband and I will drink a little wine, play a little scrabble, and watch the snow fall -- it is a perfect excuse to stay inside and be okay with that.

  5. This is my favorite thing about the winter! Living in Colorado, every day (especially in the summer) is nice, mild, and sunny. When I first moved here (and sometimes still), I felt all this pressure to be outside and active all the time.

But it's dark by the time my husband gets home, so we snuggle up to warm comfort food, blankets, and our favorite TV show at the moment as soon as the baby is in bed. And we love to play Scrabble after that too!

  7. @jorjiapeach: I thought the same thing all last winter, and finally buckled down and bought some this fall. They're amazing! Well worth the money. I wear them everyday (all day) around the house!

  22. It's so odd coming home from school, and having it be almost pitch dark one hour later. I'm really quite excited for winter, though.

Love the '?' scrabble tile from the engagement. It must be such a sweet memory every time you play.
