It's always a bit of adjustment getting used to the dark after Daylight Savings. I miss those warm, bright summer evenings more than ever.
However, my friend Kari recently made an excellent obersvation about the cooler weather. She said, "In summer, you feel obligated to spend all your time outside. In winter, it's totally okay to just stay inside."
Absolutely true. Bring on the fires, scrabble games,
moccasin slippers, and
HBC blankets to snuggle in!
*Did anyone notice the "?" tile? ...it's from our engagement! :)
I did notice the ? tile and was like "woah, is that a new addition to scrabble that I didn't know about?" what a perfect keepsake. I love winter nights and scrabble...sometimes my husband and I will drink a little wine, play a little scrabble, and watch the snow fall -- it is a perfect excuse to stay inside and be okay with that.
ReplyDeletei saw that question mark and was like what the? i love your cozy snaps :) they make winter look quite bearable.

while i was scrolling down looking at these photos, i kept thinking "coziness" which is one of the many things i love about fall to winter : )
ReplyDeleteooh nice mockys!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite thing about the winter! Living in Colorado, every day (especially in the summer) is nice, mild, and sunny. When I first moved here (and sometimes still), I felt all this pressure to be outside and active all the time.
ReplyDeleteBut it's dark by the time my husband gets home, so we snuggle up to warm comfort food, blankets, and our favorite TV show at the moment as soon as the baby is in bed. And we love to play Scrabble after that too!
gorgeous, gorgeous photographs! really stunning. xo
ReplyDeletei NEED moccasins!!
ReplyDelete@jorjiapeach: I thought the same thing all last winter, and finally buckled down and bought some this fall. They're amazing! Well worth the money. I wear them everyday (all day) around the house!
ReplyDeleteScrabble looks amazing right now! I haven't played in way too long. I know what you mean about feeling obligated to go outside.
ReplyDeletethat blanket! i've had my eye on one like that forever!
ReplyDeleteand i like your friends comment. it is okay to stay inside. i'm going to remind myself that.

I love that about fall and winter. Even in LA it's like it's ok to hibernate a little.
ReplyDeletemy heart is always aflutter at the sight of anything HBC. maybe it's because i've been going to the downtown winnipeg store since i was a child, then ended up working there for a few years as a young adult? looks like a cozy night!
ReplyDeleteIn that last picture, those pants look so comfortable!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so odd coming home from school, and having it be almost pitch dark one hour later. I'm really quite excited for winter, though.
ReplyDeleteLove the '?' scrabble tile from the engagement. It must be such a sweet memory every time you play.
@rachael: yes! leggings + thick socks = dream combo!
