I know photos of succulents are nothing new, but I happen to like these little guys quite a lot. They're a nice pop of green when I look out at the dreary (and often dark) window. I just hope we don't kill them, as we are sometimes prone to do.

On another note, I started my teaching block yesterday. So last night, I read journal entries, lesson planned & ate skittles. Brain food, you know.

i started my student teaching practicum block last week. while it has been neat to see my grade six students doing activities that i actually planned, it's also been the cause of great stress and tears. it's so darn hard starting new things and feeling like you have no idea what you're doing.

whenever i've felt like giving up this past week, mike has been right there with heaps of encouragement + hugs. i've started to feel like i'm a leech, sucking all the good stuff out of this relationship and not contributing much in return.  so last night, i bought the mister a christmas tree. well, it's a start...


and yes! i dyed my hair!

a few weeks ago, i received a little package in the mail from my cousin emily. inside, i found her grade three social studies travel journal. emily is hoping that this journal makes it all across canada this school year. as it gets sent to different spots, she will be informed of its whereabouts via postcards. 

fabulous. projects like this make me pretty darn excited to graduate + become a real teacher.

next stop: my favourite italian sisters in montréal! (aren't they complete babes?!)

pps. some very observant readers may notice that mike & i's field jumping picture featured on the second page was in fact taken in IOWA, not MANITOBA. well...i think a field is a field...

i am so close.

i got a letter in the mail a few days ago
that made me very very happy.

it was from my university
and it looks like everything is a go for me
to start my certification years of teaching next fall!
i'm so excited to be finished with all my
math, science, and french lit requirements.

as of next fall, i'll be taking only education classes,
and five week block practicums each semester.
yay!

i love when i actually feel like i'm making progress with school,
because often it feels like these six years are draggggging on.
