If you have been following me on instagram, you'll know that Mike and I just finished up a two and a half week trip in Cambodia and Vietnam. It was a fantastic trip and we obviously have heaps and heaps of photos to share. We were excited to get settled back into life here in South Korea, but unfortunately Mike contracted some sort of abdominal infection while we were out there - at least that's what the doctors are thinking until his test results come back in.

So he's holed up in a South Korean hospital, donning on pink garb, while I try and throw together some semblance of a normal school day with my kids at school. It's a bit of a crazy time (and I'm sure you can imagine what our apartment looks like right now... still haven't unpacked properly!). But the important thing is that he's going to be okay and the doctors are very competent.

So the photos, my blogging friends, will have to wait. But here's one to start with. Looking forward to checking back in soon.

  10. That photo is incredible. You have such a gift! Did you just snap it randomly or ask the person to pose??

    1. mike took this one, i must admit (he really takes the best ones... always!). but to answer your question, i'm pretty sure he just took this. but occasionally we did ask people. it's a tough choice. you lose the candid nature of the photo if you ask, but on the other hand, you don't want to offend someone by taking their photo without asking! and sometimes you can get cool photos if you ask. so... toss up!

  11. Oh gosh! I hope he heals quickly. My bf picked up something in India that kept him down for a while. I'm glad he's in a Korean hospital, as I'm sure they'll take great care of him. I'm so looking forward to seeing your photos. I think I left part of my heart in Cambodia. Do you feel that way too?

    1. i had no expectations for our time in cambodia (or maybe low expectations?) and i really ended up loving it! such friendly people (i know that's a generalization, but a good generalization to make?), great food, and so inexpensive. we only spent about 5 days there, so we really only scratched the surface.

  12. My cousin was hospitalized for appendicitis when teaching in Busan. She was fine in the end, fortunately. She had said the first morning in hospital they served her a whole fish (head and scales included) for breakfast. Cultural differences!
