children of the corn.

someday when mike and i have more flexible schedules (will that ever happen?) it will be nice to leave for weekend trips a bit earlier on in the day. oh boy...late night long drives are not our favourite. but we awoke the next morning to beautiful corn fields sprawling in every direction and that permanent farm smell that follows you to even the shopping mall.

mike, my brother brendan and i had the chance to frolic around in a corn field near my aunt and uncles farm - just ten minutes before it was completely plowed down! it would've been absolutely terrifying to still be in there when the big combine came roaring along! crisis narrowly avoided.

ps. i quite enjoy the fact that mike kind of looks like he's a rock star in every one of these pictures. why not let your inner rockstar out in iowa? (mike claims its all the beard)

breakfast in the usa.

this evening, i'm packing for a little weekend trip to the states. my mom, brothers, sister-in-law, nephews, niece, mike and i are all heading down south to visit my grandparents in iowa. trips to iowa are often a bit dull, but i'm so excited to go with my whole big family!

truthfully, i'm probably most excited for the road trip down. life is so darn busy that 8 hours in a car with mike sounds like an absolute dream!

buying food for the road trip down made me think about when mike & i were in minneapolis last month. which made me think of all the delicious meals we ate. which made me think of yum! kitchen & bakery. the restaurant is so fresh and clean! the food is scrumptious! the desserts look incredible! i can't wait to go back!

barbette.

another friendly guest post from 'the boyfriend' :

on our last day out on the (up)town we took our nearly matching blue v-necks for a stroll.

around mid-day our stomachs informed us that it was time to find food and our camera informed us that this food had better be found in a cute spot.

after walking a few blocks with nothing seeming to jump out at us, we came across this gem.

Barbette - a cozy, quaint little french bistro with a lovely street side patio. perfection.

- needless to say, both of our stomachs and our camera were happily satisfied -

ps. judging from my last post + my subsequent two week disappearance, you may be inclined to believe that i'm living in a hut on the beach. tempting! ...except for the current chilly autumn temperatures.
i'm back now, i promise.
