save the date.
Mike and I went back and forth on save the date ideas several times. I haven't actually ever received a save the date (is it more an American thing than Canadian?) but since we have quite a few out of town family and friends that are invited, we thought it would be nice to send them out. We attempted to take a photo for the save the date on the coldest, windiest Saturday of the year. Our lovely helium balloons kept blowing in our faces and we looked grumpy and frozen. Since we didn't want to actually deter people from coming, we scrapped that idea entirely and bought a heap of vintage postcards. We accidentally bought twice as many as we should have (bought one for each person invited, forgetting about couples and families) but luckily they're a nice thing to have sitting out on a coffee table.
It was sure nice to get these mailed off, but the to-do list seems never ending...
could you guys be more perfect? i truly don't think so. these are amazing!
ReplyDeleteGENIUS. Best save the date EVER.
ReplyDeletelove the idea of using vintage postcards, they look so special!!
ReplyDeletesuper nice!
What a great idea, I am so looking forward to more pictures!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Goodness. What a fantastic idea! These are beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteaww cute idea :D
ReplyDeletevery cute guys! !
ReplyDeleteMy sister-in-law used post cards for her guest book. She asked that guests write a special message on the cards and then put them in a photo album. It turned out great. Maybe you could use your extra post cards for something similar.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea!!
ReplyDeleteI love that idea! It's unique and inexpensive! Well, I don't really know how much all those postcards cost, but I'm sure it's not that much!
ReplyDeleteAND they could keep the invite for a long time, if they wanted, because of the picture on the other side!
what a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteI love your save the dates! I actually received my first save the date this winter and it felt like I got a sneak peek at what the wedding will be like. I hope your wedding planning goes smoothly!
ReplyDeleteThese look fantastic! We did postcards and did the same things with the numbers...postcards AND the stamps. Ack. A year later and we still have those stamps :) Congrats on getting step 1 done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute, original Idea! That bit of bad luck worked out.
ReplyDeleteI love the shot of all of them lined up. When everyone recieves their one in the mail they're special - but it's hard to fathom how much work goes into doing a hundred more!
this is such an excellent idea! i love the colors too :)
ReplyDeletethanks for the red hair comment - growing up i resented having red hair, but now i love it (and especially today haha)
I don't think people send 'save the date cards' in Europe, but it can come in handy. And what a great idea to use vintage postcards!!
ReplyDeletewow!so lovely!
ReplyDeletei LOVE LOVE LOVE the postcard idea... maybe in the future i'll do something like that ;)
ReplyDeleteooooo good work you. you are ahead of the game! its only march, and you aldready have all your addresses collected!?

thanks everyone for your kind words! :)
ReplyDelete@noodles & waffles: that would be a great idea, except for the fact that we already stamped all of them - shoot!
@nikaela: i know! if anything, save the dates are worth doing just so you have everyones' addresses. it was a bit of a pain hounding everyone for them. and now i don't have to worry about that when we send out the invitations. one less thing to do!
and i've already taken a peek at some of you wedding photos, but i will definitely read the labelled posts! so neat to see local weddings. thanks!
janis this is an incredibly perfect/adorable idea. i LOVE the pictures/postcards! i presume you two took these photos? beautiful.
ReplyDeleteby the way, honored to be on your blogroll!!! :) xoxo

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea! So much personality, what a fun twist on the traditional. I really liked the photos you took. Made me think back on my own wedding and having our invitations strewn aallll over the floor. So much fun :)
