i started my student teaching practicum block last week. while it has been neat to see my grade six students doing activities that i actually planned, it's also been the cause of great stress and tears. it's so darn hard starting new things and feeling like you have no idea what you're doing.

whenever i've felt like giving up this past week, mike has been right there with heaps of encouragement + hugs. i've started to feel like i'm a leech, sucking all the good stuff out of this relationship and not contributing much in return.  so last night, i bought the mister a christmas tree. well, it's a start...

and yes! i dyed my hair!

  1. Oh dear, I'm sorry you're so stressed out these days! I must say, though, that a Christmas tree seems like the perfect way to say thanks for all the support!

oh, and p.s. your hair looks fantastic!

  3. I love the auburn/brown (? sometimes it's hard to tell in a photo)... it looks great!

I've been pretty stressed lately too. Perhaps it's a little Canadian seasonal affective disorder. Thank goodness for supportive boys. Feel better soon.

  5. Love the hair...
Love that the tree net matches your scarf...
    Especially love the mustard cardigan...

We all feel like this sometimes...Like we are doing something we don't know how to do...{i feel like a fake often; silly confidence issues} I would bet that you are fabulous and perhaps too humble. I imagine your students will adore you too.

Best wishes! I hope the Man enjoys the tree!

  8. My teaching practicum was the most stressful but rewarding thing I ever did.. it took me about 6 weeks to really feel comfortable at all. Remember you are there to screw up and learn. Be open to that and don't be too hard on yourself.

  10. I know it's hard work, but it sounds like it's going to be such a rewarding job. So when times are hard just think about the difference you make to your students lives.

  12. Aw man! Sounds like teaching would be such a fun challenge. Tears and stress, included.

    You'll rock it soon enough.
