Our friend Justin put together this fantastic little video about our weekend at the lake.

A few points:
1. There are some compromising shots of Mike and I dancing. I think we're a lot goofier in real life than I let on...
2. Yes, Mike and I are wearing the same shirt in different clips. It's his for the record.
3. Can you spot my friend kd throwing an inflatable ball to herself in the water at one point? Haha, so so cute!

*Also, this has to be one of the most documented trips to the lake. My friend Sarah posted some really great film photos of the weekend on her flickr. I love this one + this one + this one.

Finally... our big news! We're moving to South Korea!

This has been in the works for months, but our visas finally came in the mail yesterday. I signed a one year teaching contract at an international school in Incheon. I'll be teaching grade three! It's been so hard not to mention it here on the blog this last little while, but I didn't want to make any big announcements until everything was 100% confirmed.

Mike was able to get a working holiday visa, but it's still a bit up in the air what he'll be doing while we're out there. He's looking forward to a change of pace. He's been working two full-time gigs for the last few years (working as a journeyman electrician AND a wedding photographer), so he's super excited to have the chance to relax, pursue some creative endeavours, explore our new home, and pick up odd jobs when he can.

We are both over-the-moon about this exciting adventure that awaits us! We are leaving Canada on August 18th, stopping in LA for a few days of sunshine and friends, and then flying into Seoul.

I can't wait to see how this blog blog will change and grow while we are in Asia! Stay tuned. :)

I almost forgot to post these, but I can't let a stunning lakeside sunset go undocumented. Such a peaceful, majestic experience.

Whenever my friends and I gather, we always feast like kings and queens. It's one of my favourite things about us.

And yes, those are eggs in a muffin tin. You can cook them on the bbq that way... who knew?!

Swinging our feet in the water, trying to push each other off, swimming contests, snuggling in the sun, reading books, playing marco pollo, and eating watermelon...

*I need to give Mike full credit for that amazing first photo!

Friday night, Mike and I packed up our bags and drove to our friend's cabin in the Whiteshell. Last time we were there, the lake was just beginning to unthaw and so this was a completely different experience. While we were waiting for some of our friends to arrive, we couldn't help but pop down to the dock and enjoy the setting sun.

While at Folk Fest, we ran into all sorts of people we knew. It was great to see some, awkward to see others...you know how it is.

As I culled through our thousands* of photos from Folk fest, I felt like I was running into people all over again. Those legs in cowboy boots... well they belong to a girl I went to high school with. And that girl with dreads? Haven't seen her since junior high, but there she was in a photo. One time I was taking a picture of a cute little girl and it wasn't until after I took it that I realized she was a student that I had taught this spring! Felt a bit like a creep, haha!

*Mike, in an attempt to find some shade, would sometimes pose as a volunteer photographer. He'd crouch at the front of the stage (prime shady location) and take photos. No one was the wiser, but it meant that we came home with a crazy amount of stage photos!
