My brother and sister-in-law welcomed little Atlee Folkerts into the world on Saturday. Mike and I hopped in our car Sunday morning so we could spend a few hours with this little guy before the work week started.

Atlee was getting quite a bit of attention, but not from his oldest brother. Xavier is refusing to hold Atlee because he has "scary little wrinkly feet." Well, you can't please everyone!

Last weekend, I visited my dear cousins in Alberta. I grew up with three brothers and no sisters, so these two ladies have always been like sisters to me. Just before I left on Monday morning, someone mentioned that I looked so much like Kristin, considering we were "just cousins." It made me smile all day!

*Photos taken in Kristin + Chris' beautiful riverside condo. I'd kill for all that natural light!

Who doesn't need a mid-week ice cream break sometimes? BDI is a bit legendary around these parts. The protocol is thus: 1. Grab ice cream. 2. Walk over the bridge.

In other news:
I finished my final practicum on Friday. That night, I flew to Alberta to visit my cousins. Came home yesterday and am now subbing (!) and working as a research assistant for one of my profs. Hello, real life!

This past weekend, we went to the open house of our friend MacKenzie. She is graduating from the Environmental Design program at the University of Manitoba (yay!) and is more creative than I can wrap my mind around. Fun fact about MacKenzie - we met her through blogging! Mike knew her boyfriend from some weddings that he shot, but we both got to know MacKenzie through her amazing photos (example one + example two!). But now we've met a few times in real life, and I can confirm that she is just as cute and creative in person!

Mike was just enthralled with the whole open house. He is tossing around the idea of going back to school for design/architecture and this open house was very convincing. We'll see what happens!

A few photos from this past weekend. It was a busy one and I was awfully tired by Sunday night. Not my favourite way to start the week, but I am finished my practicum on Friday. I will be able to relax soon!

In any case, it felt good to pick up my camera again. There was a bit of a dry spell, but I now have lots of photos that I want to share. Stay tuned!

*I used a tablet for the handwritten titles (inspiration here). I need to practice writing with the tablet as this took me way longer than I'd like to admit ;)

We walked to Sarah's place after church on Friday and made dinner together in her kitchen. The food, the sunroom, the reflection of twinkle lights in the windows at night - I loved it all.

These wee little green buds are making me very happy. Spring does not often come so soon, so we are just relishing in every minute!

Last night, Mike, our friend Kevin, and I threw some stuff on the barbecue and ate on the front stoop. I could get used to this!
